Vivek Vashi is a recognised leading dispute resolution practitioner in India. He commenced his career in law as a trainee in 1999 with the erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas and was subsequently retained as an associate in 2002 on graduation; thereafter as a senior associate on qualification as a solicitor in 2004. In 2008, Vashi co-founded Bharucha & Partners.
He founded Vashi and Vashi in Mumbai in 2017 after he parted ways with his former firm along with his entire team of 17 associates. Following a spectacular run during the past five years, Vashi and Vashi now handles complex and high stakes disputes and dispute-linked transactions across India. These include disputes before tribunals (the National Company Law Tribunal, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, the National Green Tribunal, etc.), enforcement agencies, courts including high courts and the Supreme Court of India; domestic and international arbitrations including the London Court of International Arbitration and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
Vashi deals with intricate disputes and multifaceted litigations, making his mark as a forerunner for dispute resolution in Mumbai. His hands-on approach coupled with innovative out-of-the-box analysis and thinking has allowed him to offer pertinent advice and representation for his clients across a broad gamut of matters including company disputes, construction and infrastructure disputes, economic offences, white-collar crimes, bankruptcy and insolvency, renewable energy, family disputes, reforms in various sectors such as telecoms.
He is often engaged by clients when negotiating on large transactions to prevail in or insulate themselves from potential disputes. He is retained by private family offices and large private estates in relation to the management and structuring of their investments, trust mechanisms, succession planning and other matters. His approach to amicably settle and mutually resolve disputes rather than needlessly engage or be embroiled in litigation has earned him plenty of praise from clients.
Vashi has been recognised by Chambers and Partners and ranked in India Business Law Journal’s “The A-List” of top Indian lawyers for several consecutive years. He has also been commended by Asialaw, The Legal 500 and Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal).
His hands-on and personal approach has earned him the admiration of clients and the respect of opponents.
